Actos Diabetes Drug

In June 2011, The Food and Drug Administration warned users of the diabetes drug Actos® that they may be at risk of bladder cancer, especially if they have taken the drug in high doses or for long periods of time. According to the FDA, those who are at greatest risk are patients who have taken Actos for a long period of time (typically 12 months or longer.)  Recently, the government health departments of both Germany and France have stopped the sale of Actos in those countries due to the dangerous side effects of Actos.

WARNING: If you have taken Actos for more than 12 months, you should meet with your doctor immediately to discuss any possible side effects, especially if you have difficulty/pain when urinating or blood in the urine.
